2025 has not turned out at all as I envisioned.
A whirlwind of change is what it has turned out to be!
Each week brings about a new guideline that will be implemented, a spontaneous classroom makeover, or a shifting of teachers.
As an educator I'm used to this world of transition and change.
Getting too comfortable in any one classroom, office, or position has proven to be a hazard in this profession.
But we also must be mindful that with each change, students are impacted tremendously.
Yes, they are young and resilient.
But, they are also fragile and vulnerable.
You remember that time, I'm sure.
So, here I am wearing multiple "hats": counselor, mentor, and teacher.
Guiding students along a path to some sense of normalcy despite the random chaos that has become part of our everyday routine.
In the midst of this I've made a discovery.
I've developed deeper and more meaningful connections with the students NOW than when I started two years ago!
I'm seeing firsthand HOW they learn and WHAT they value.
And they too are learning more about me- Ms. Joyner.
And who would have thought that when this school year started I would find myself- Here.
Surely, not me.
Funny How Things Work Out.
